Because you'll never know..

Recently i read this article published in the New Straits Time (a M'sian paper) on the factors to maintaining good relationships with the people around you. the writer elaborated on one factor which had etched in my memory forever, and that is, patience. The writer included a true story which is based in US. The story goes like that..A man was standing at the doorway of his home, fondly admiring his newly- bought truck at parked outside the gate. Then he realised that his 3- year old son was thudding away on the truck at a corner with a hammer happily. At that moment, he felt only unsurmountable fury and rage. He grabbed the hammer from his son and began hammering away with frenzy on his son's fingers instead. He didn't stop till he realised that what was left of his son's fingers, a mass of flesh and protruding tiny bones. He rushed his son immediately to the hospital. However, due to the severity of the case, his son's hand could not be save. The only way out was an amputation. After the operation, when his 3- year old son woke up, his first words to his father was, "Dad, i'm sorry for doing that to the truck", he continued, "But Dad, will my hand grow back?".This was what the innocent and kind little boy had said.Upon hearing his son's words, the man could not forgive himself. Due to his moment of folly, he has ruined his son. That day itself, he commited suicide. This story will forever be engraved in my heart, constantly reminding me of the consequences that will be resulted due to one's split second burst of anger. It applies to anyone's daily life. Even if the consequence is not immediate, it will still somehow surface. Its only at that time will then one come to feel regretful of their actions. However, most of the time, all is too late for lamentation.
