Home-made Sa Bo Fan (minus the calories)Attn: This is strictly for those who knows how to use the rice cooker! =PIntro: This is a very healthy and speedy way for those who can't wait and wants to stay fit!You'll need these.....
- bite- size pieces of chopped chicken
- some chilli padies (sliced lengthwise for the spiciness to come out real well)
- some chopped spring onions (for garnishing)
- uncooked rice
Use the seasonings below according to your tastes..
- oyster sauce
- light and dark soy sauce
- pepper
- 2 drops of sesame oil
- salt
- few splashes of wine/ liquor
Steps:
- Rinse the rice 2 times before placing it back into the cooker.
- Start cooking the rice.
- Mix the seasonings and chopped chicken together in a bowl.
- Marinate it for at least 15 minutes. (meanwhile, clean up the mess you've made)
- The rice should be at least partially- cooked now.
- Open the cooker lid of the still- cooking rice , and spread the chicken (plus the gravy) onto the rice and close the lid. Careful of the steam!
- Serve as soon as the rice cooker switches to "warm" mode!
Note....
Additional drops of sesame oil will be empower the flavour of chicken. Hence, unless you prefer it, stick to max 1/2 a teaspoon(2 drops)!It'll be more desirable to add more dark soysauce.
Over- rinsing of rice is believe to rinse off the nutritions of the grains! Tips....
1/2 a cup of rice is estimated as a serving, and the amount of water needed to cook it is also 1/2 of the indicated "1" on the inner surface of the container.That is,2 pax= 1 cup of rice= Water level up to "1"
3pax= 1 1/2 cup of rice= Water level up to the point between "1" and "2"and so on....
